left over xmas veg

Not veg I know but if you have any left over lemons that need using up, they can be sliced up and frozen on a baking tray and then packed into freezer bags to be put into cold drinks through the year. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I thought this post - which was started as purely for vegetables could be expanded to include leftovers of all the various foodstuffs that we might find ourselves suffering over Christmas.
Just what DO you do with one turkey leg, six purple quality streets, and the one stack of water biscuits that nobody likes?
Maybe it might be easier to get the last few bits in for Christmas if we already had in mind "a cunning plan..."Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. The best thing I ever did with Christmas leftovers was to make a hash.Fry up the chopped roast spuds, parsnips + any other veg -peas, carrots what have you.Add a bit of leftover meat as well if you've got some,a slug of sherry or other booze and ideally some gravy.Get it all really hot and enjoy.
The best fat to use is fat from the roast or bacon fat -not very healthy but hey its Christmas.HTH :xmastree:
ps If you've got some cranberry sauce add that as well0 -

My seven granchildren luckily never knew the 'joys' of war-time rationing. I never say no to free choccies. I put them in the bottom drawer of the fridge and have a couple whilst watching the tele over the long dark winter nights.
I really know how to live don't I ?.It doesn't take a lot to please this old gal.0 -
One of the things we do with leftover veg & meat is to blitz the lot in the food processor then use as the stuffing for a boned & rolled chicken.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0

I know it's not exactly veggies, but we had goose this year, (frozen breasts from Lidl), and I now have a lovely big tub of goose fat which I shall use to make the most delicious roast potatoes in the world for months to come.A penny saved is a penny gained0
