We are going to book a week to Lanzarote in December. I know the flight is 4 hours but we can get up and down with him and take some food to feed him in his seat..
Not sure where you flying from but we've been from east mids and birmingham and its never been more than 3 hours 15 mins to lanzarote. Make sure you compare prices before booking as the first 3 weeks in december are generally very cheap as most people are preparing for christmas. If you buy him one of those uv swim bodysuit things make sure it has long arms and doesnt stop at the elbow as thats the bits that gets burnt, why manufactures do that i'll never know it does my head in trying to find long sleeves. Have a lovely time lanzarotes very nice.0 -
I would definitely recommend taking a drinking mug for landing and (to a lesser degree) taking off in the plane. None of our kids ever had ear problems but whereas we suck sweets babies are best drinking to keep them swallowing and not getting earache because of changes in cabin pressure. I would also second self-catering somewhere with a bit of room. It's nice to have somewhere to go back to in the day if your little one gets tired and wants a nap without being all cramped in one room and also you can cook them something you know they like before you go out in the evening and then if they eat something in the restaurant it's a bonus but they might just have a bit of bread and not be hungry and grouchy.0

BTW Lanzarote is the nearest Canary Island to the UK.
The http://easyjet.com/EN/routemap/ map helps.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I'm going to Lanzarote in December aswell. I have done lots of research and it seems its a great time to visit. The only small negative is the pools are cold, but the sea is still warm enough for a swim.
I'm sure you will all have a great time, which hotel have you booked?£100 - £10,0000 -
We went to Tenerife a few years ago in March when my son had just turned one. At that age I do think it can be best to book an apartment/villa rather than a hotel. It meant we could self-cater, had plenty of space and all the things we needed to make life easy, e.g. microwave. The weather was pretty mixed to be honest and was never scorching hot. We did walks to the beach and visited a few places, it really wasn't warm enough to be in the pool everyday even though the outside temp was pleasant. Nappies and baby milk can easily be bought over there or you can just put it in your hold luggage. They do sell Aptamil brand over there, and dodot nappies are pampers. The Spanish love children and you will be made welcome. I would go for it and enjoy yourself!0

Hi! Hotel not booked yet, but I have had a quick look and there are lots of hotels available on deals at the mo. I have stayed in Puerto Del Carmen and Costa Teguise before, so I'm thinking of going for Playa Blanca as I have heard it is quieter than other resorts.
Thanks for all the advice.0 -

Yes there are lots of good deals for hotels, I haven't booked mine yet either. I have found the best prices on Thomsons website and Travel Republic. We are also looking at Playa Blanca it looks lovely and seems to get the best weather out of season.

Hi, Sorry for the late reply.
We fly out on the 8th too from Liverpool with Easyjet! I am staying for a week. Still not booked the accomodation yet as I have been mad busy but you are right, I have seen some good deals. Cheapest spots seem to be in Costa Teguise but I know a couple of locals in Lanzarote who say Playa Blanca is the mutts nuts.0 -
Playa Blanca is also popular with the germans as well as the british. Matagorda is nice quite quiet other than some aircraft noise which didn't bother us, as its 5 mins from the airport but cheap for a taxi transfer to and from the airport, also handy to walk or bus it into puerto del carmen and get the bus to the market in costa teguise on sundays.0
