If this is in the wrong place, please point me in the right direction.
There is a car dealer near us and I've been looking into changing my car as my current one is too low and I've just had back surgery.
I looked on their website and they dont mention anything about trading /government scrappage scheme on your old car on there. However, on the 'local radio' station, their advert (played non stop) states that they will give £1500 on 'Any' car you trade against a new one.
I saw a car I liked on the web, phoned to discuss prices etc. They told me that the website price was only if you didnt trade in your car, but if you came into the forecort the same car (if you were trading yours against it) would be £1000 more. Basically meaning they would only be giving £500 for your old car.
Can they do this? Is it not false advertising to put it one price on a web and a different on the forecourt?

No not at all
web selling is cheaper than face to face sales and thus the incentive.0 -
Doesnt seem very fair. Guess I'm just disapointed as with a £1500 trade in price for my car, I would have been able (just about) to manage the balance on the web price but when it goes up by £1000 by going into the forecourt it was out of my reach....0
