I'm not far from Chester and visit this place a lot :-)
£3.50 per person - and well worth it - comes highly recommended from me!!!

I like to think so!:p Depending on the weather, you could try punting in Oxford. You can either hire someone to do the hard work for you or set your teenagers to work!
I don't know if either of them are Harry Potter fans, but Christchurch Cathedral in Oxford was used for filming, although it is pretty expensive to get in. You could also look round the old castle complex - take a look in the Malmaison Hotel, which used to be the prison. There's also a Krispy Kreme donut shop in the complex.
Somewhere else for food is Jamie's Italian on George Street. It's always busy but you can't book, so you may have to queue.
If all else fails with your teenagers, there is an HMV and a Primark (both pretty big), that should keep both of them happy! Also Top Shop.
The covered market has lots of quirky shops that might appeal to your daughter, plus there's Ben's Cookies (delicious) and MooMoo's milkshake place in there, where they make milkshakes with pretty much every ingredient under the sun.0 -
...there's a Shakeaway just off Cornmarket - far superior to MooMoos
Other things to do in oxford...there are the museums and colleges, which will probably bore teenagers to tears. There's a couple of decent walks you can do along the river - most of which are pub-oriented, so plenty of places to stop for a drink and a sandwhich with nice views. there are also boats that cruise between oxford and abingdon daily, so could go for a wander around Abingdon one day too (won't take long). There's a karting track, ice rink, bowling alley and a couple of cinemas locally for "teen" entertainment - and things like the greyhounds, theatre, etc for the evenings - the "famous" creations theatre company is currently doing 12th Night at the Said Business School that might be worth a look. I'll try and think more

Thanks Stacey, Jelliebeen and Idiophreak. I really appreciate all your ideas. There's nothing worse than being in a strange place with bored 17 year olds and no idea of where to go and eat, pass the day etc.
I think if we waited for them to punt us down the river, we'd be sending for Lewis and Hathaway before the trip was over!!0
