I've used SVP consistenetly for 4 years. Never had any problems, even exchanging 2 burners that failed. They even replaced with the next model as one was 9 months old.

For the last 15 months I have used Datawrite Titanium discs and have yet to have an issue. They even have them in 16 speed now (23p a disc before discounts)

I agree that Taio-Yaiden is the best dye but (in bulk) they are still 35p a disc. (£12.23 more than a 100 x Titaniums). Titaniums work on a whole variety of standalone players, consoles and of course PCs.

Net of this ramble: Don't use cheap DVD-R / SVP a great company to buy from / if you have the money buy the best / if you want a deal be realistic (Titaniums)

Needed sOme more media so ordered the bargain posted - £10 for 100!!!. Thanks OP!

If anyone wants to know SVP did not process my order even though their systems said they had and it was due, when it didnt turn up they admitted it was their fault due to a rare system error, took me through loads of emails and telephone calls to identify their system error wasting hours of my time and then told me thanks we fixed the error now. No mention of my order! Then they told me to re-order from scratch! When I asked for a discount for the inconvnience and one week late order they said as I had only lost a few hours of time they couldnt do anything not even express delivery my order. I was furious to say the least! **** SVP!

Disk Depot - never had a problem and they even split a pack and sent me a single item once to help me out when i asked. Big difference in customer service.

IN SUMMARY I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND SVP TO ANYONE!

I use SVP about once a month for myself and a couple of friends/ family.(Usually when they do cheap shipping) - Never a problem so far.
In fact I'd say that they are my supplier of choice for computer related stuff. I just wish they did a bigger range to cover all computer equipment instead of 90% blank media and 10% everything else! Having said that the range seems to get bigger each time I go there, so maybe they are aware of the inbalance.I'd recommend money savers to bookmark the page where they publish their special offer newsletters http://svp.co.uk/newsletter/latestnews.htm

Ebuyer are not to be ignored either. They get lots of bad press for poor service, but personally I've no complaints. Prices are almost as low as SVP.

Have placed 2 orders in the past (more than 6 months ago now) with DiskDepot after reading about some very cheap discs they and had problems with both. The discs I got from them on one order simply didn't work and they wanted me to pay to send them back for examination

Staples have some good disc deals from time to time, but it's a lottery as to if they have a 2:1 deal on. I wouldn't mind if I lived next door, but it's 5 miles each way. Easier to order over the net if I don't have another reason to take a trip out there.

Bought some ink cartridges from SVP ages ago for my Epson C86, very cheap and came next day, not bad quality either.

I buy media from a local store now that I have found somewhere reasonably priced and that offers decent service, but would not hesitate to buy from SVP if I could not get my media of choice locally.
  • I also use SVP for most of my PC needs, I think they are great. If I ever have a query then I just send them a quick email and they seem to reply to it really quickly, even in the middle of the night. Some online companies seem to take days to reply to the simplest enquiry.

I'm surprised to hear that some people have had problems, I recommend them to everyone - even strangers spending too much on media in PC World :-s. All my friends and family use them, sometimes we club together to save on shipping and all of them give SVP the thumbs up too!

Thanks for the tip on the Tuffdiscs, I could do with some more DVDR and DVDRW especially if its free :-D thats the best kind!

I have used SVP in the past & find them V. Good but sometimes their discs 'can' be a bit expensive. Big pockets is another favourite too but I am more likely to use these:-

If you check out the cost of discs & work out P&P on ALL the sites, you can get the best deal before placing your order.

BTW I have had the biggest failure rate using the 'Tuffdisc' brand (around 10%) so buyer beware!
