Paypal Direct Debit Instruction query

No I've not used Paypal to pay for anything for about 2 weeks and the money for that has already been debited from my bank account.
The subscription I have set up on Paypal is only for £3.50 a month, and I have over £30.00 in funds already in my Paypal account from survey payments.0 -
Erm... when did you remove the bank details exactly?
When did Paypal try and initially collect the funds by DD?
When this recently happened to me (DDI had fallen dormant under the 12 month rule), it took about 9 days for paypal to realise, which is about how long it would take for collection to be attempted, collection refused by paying bank, reason code referred back to paypal, paypal to investigate and take appropriate action.
I removed my bank details about 1 week ago. I received the two emails today. In the email it didn't even state how much they tried to transfer, I copied and pasted it word for word.0 -
There is definately something wrong with that system of paypal, lots of people are getting emails with no links that make no sense. I'm one of them.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

I've just got off the phone from Paypal customer service and was told that was a standard email sent when you remove your bank details, and they confirmed they didn't try to take any money from my account. You'd think they could of sent a more appropriate email, and maybe next time I'll use my one working braincell and ring the party involved first.

Thanks everyone.0 -
Did you not get another email?I removed my bank details about 1 week ago. I received the two emails today. In the email it didn't even state how much they tried to transfer, I copied and pasted it word for word.
When this happened to me, I got 2 emails from paypal sent at exactly the same time. The first one had the dates and amount missing just like yours (and the same reason)
The second had the dates & amount included, plus a more appropriate reason stated.
All you can do otherwise is to check each of your recent transactions on paypal to see if any failed; you'll need to look at the details to see this.
If nothing is showing, then they haven't actually tried to collect any payment by DD - they've just sent what appears to be their basic format email.
Perhaps they became aware you removed your bank account so know they can't claim on your DDI any more."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
HI,
I removed my direct debit link two weeks and got these same emails from paypal. I think they are just "standard" emails, because they did not try to to take any money ?0 -
Hi, did you cancel the direct debit with the bank aswell?
If you did then an automated notice would get sent to the originator (paypal) advising it has been cancelled. Im guessing that this notice its then generated from paypal every time they receive this notification from the bank.
