You may not have any morals, but some of us do. Lets hope you don't need any schools, hospitals or anything else paid for by taxes.
Any other 'acceptable' crimes you would like to recomend to save some money?
PMM I just wonder if you are as righteous as you sound, and if you would go to the red channel and declare all the things that you have purchased so that you would get taxed on it. ;D ;D0 -
I really don't think it's a question of morals, more a question of good economics. For me it would be a choice of purchasing at a reasonable rate in the US, and hopefully avoiding the tax, or not buying at all. So, the hospitals, schools etc. are not losing out on any of my taxes.
As for other acceptable 'crimes', well, I would not consider this to be a crime. Nothing that I consider a 'crime' is acceptable.
I'm sure this isn't the right forum to discuss this so I think I'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Have a good remainder of the festive season.
Steve
Whether you consider it a crime or not, it is. Arguing that it is a economic choice is merely justification.you mean like bogus asylum seekers, hooligans/thugs smashing things up around town, and chancers suing the council/nhs etc... over nothing?
you're right, I certainly don't need any of those!
that's not my point though and government expenditure will always be allocatively inefficient, but taxes are evaded much more prolifically than this guy not declaring his iPod. Hell, I intern for an investment bank and our business is providing 'tax efficient' solutions for the uber-rich! Do you use CD Wow, Play etc...? Because a large part of the price discrepancy is due to the lack of VAT.
Ahh the argument over wasted taxes. I wondered how long it was going to be for someone ran this one out.
As for tax avoidance and CD Wow etc, you will have noticed that they are legal rather than being illegal.PMM get a life >:(N
Insults, the last resort of someone who cannot justify their point of view.PMM I just wonder if you are as righteous as you sound, and if you would go to the red channel and declare all the things that you have purchased so that you would get taxed on it. ;D ;D
I have in the past and I would again.
My original point was that this board specifically requests "Please don't post any illegal MoneySaving suggestions" (look ^ way). You may not like paying taxes (who does) but to go to lengths to evade them is illegal no matter what your view is. If people want to break the law that is their choice, they just shouldn't post advice on how to do it here.
I hope everybody (including those who posted insults) has a happy and prosperous new year. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Talking about the red channel at customs.
I remember in the dim and distant past, coming through Dover and we had the choice of the Red or Green Channel.
Opted for red paid our £20 and were through in a jiffy....only car that opted for red...lol.
The funny thing was all those stressed out families with there whole car stripped lying on the tarmac.0 -
