  • All prices are more or less the same due to apple price fixing. just look here - price at amazon for a mini is about the same as high street.

remind them to discard/post back the box and manuals etc. - that way they can claim they have had it for ages is a customes bloke asks them Q's.

I didn't know that money saving included criminal activities. What next, tips on which are the easiest banks to rob.

Well, you'd be a fool not to try and avoid the tax wouldn't you? I'd rather the customs officials spent their time looking for drugs rather than trying to ascertain where an ipod was purchased for a few quid in taxes. I can just imagine you proudly walking down the red channel at Heathrow, boxed ipod and wallet in hand.

You may not have any morals, but some of us do. Lets hope you don't need any schools, hospitals or anything else paid for by taxes.

Any other 'acceptable' crimes you would like to recomend to save some money?

And what happens if the aforementioned drug smuggler is hiding it in their ipod? ;D

I really don't think it's a question of morals, more a question of good economics. For me it would be a choice of purchasing at a reasonable rate in the US, and hopefully avoiding the tax, or not buying at all. So, the hospitals, schools etc. are not losing out on any of my taxes.

As for other acceptable 'crimes', well, I would not consider this to be a crime. Nothing that I consider a 'crime' is acceptable.

I'm sure this isn't the right forum to discuss this so I think I'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Have a good remainder of the festive season.

The savings in US are not reallly in the high street retail prices (not that they are anything to scoff at) but in deals and money backs etc. So you wont get the best price if u buy high street though will be substantial savings from UK prices but if you can spot rebates etc then you are a big winner.
  • you mean like bogus asylum seekers, hooligans/thugs smashing things up around town, and chancers suing the council/nhs etc... over nothing?

you're right, I certainly don't need any of those!

that's not my point though and government expenditure will always be allocatively inefficient, but taxes are evaded much more prolifically than this guy not declaring his iPod. Hell, I intern for an investment bank and our business is providing 'tax efficient' solutions for the uber-rich! Do you use CD Wow, Play etc...? Because a large part of the price discrepancy is due to the lack of VAT.

Lets hope you don't need any schools, hospitals or anything else paid for by taxes.
