Alleged overcharging?

Hi All
I'm looking for a bit of help or just to see if anyone has come across this situation before?
I sold an item on a Best Offer (automtically set to accept offers over a certain amount). The accepted offer was £24 and P&P of £5 so £29 in total. Buyer paid promptly through Paypal and I posted the item next day. No problems.
Today, the buyer has contacted me to say that I have overcharged for the item; that I have charged £35 and that I owe a £6 refund. I cannot for the life of me see how this would be the case. I have double checked the 'view order details' on the item in ebay and in the Paypal payment details and I charged and received £29. I have advised the buyer accordingly and have offered to provide screenshots of ebay and paypal if necessary and that she should contact Paypal if the transaction on her account is showing £35 paid instead of the £29 that it should be. Am waiting for a response.
Has anyone encountered this before? Could it maybe be a Paypal glitch? I just have no idea how the buyer could otherwise think that I have overcharged when everything looks to be in order to me

keep it friendly and do as you have and ask for screen shots i would say its either a genuine mistake from paypal or the buyer has actually bought something costing that amount and only that transaction is currently showingEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Can you not forward him the e-mail from Paypal saying how much he paid? Sounds like its either a con or has brought something else and got muddled. Does their feedback left and recieved suggest has done this before?0

As the others say. Check your paypal account directly not ebay though. That will tell you directly how much they paid0

Could it be that the buyer has looked at their summary of recently won items on my ebay and seen the original full asking price?
It does show that, rather than an accepted best offer (in the same way buying one of a multi-buy item will show the latest price e.g. if the seller changes the price of the remainder after one was purchased)
To be sure, get the buyer to check their paypal account directly to see what they actually paid you.
Surely people check the balance before clicking on approving payment don't they?
If the amount demanded was not as expected I would query it before I paid, not after."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Thanks all. All sorted (hopefully) in an amicable fashion and buyer seems to have accepted that there has possibly been some glitch and that I haven't tried to fleece her. Still not sure how what the problem is but I've provided her with copies of the transaction that may assist if she needs to raise the issue with Payal.0
