wrong post code provided

Hi,

I sent out an item last Thursday by Special Delivery, but I did not notice that the post code provided was incomplete. I have since checked the buyers ebay and paypal account and both have the incomplete post code.

Luckily this was corrected at the post office, but the buyer contacted me this week to say it had not arrived.

On checking the tracking it has been signed for, and the buyer has rang the post office who apparently say it has been delivered to the same address in a different area. She is going there today to "try" and get her item.

She has no feedback, and has made no effort to apologise or acknowledge her mistake.

I've refused to send another out until the first one is returned and have politely pointed out that with her having provided an incorrect post code, and the post office having seemingly delivered it elsewhere, I am somewhat powerless at this stage.

Any advice please ?

Doesn't paypal rules say you have to deliver it to the confirmed address? i.e. the one which is on paypal. So as you have done this and got proof of this and its been recieved I think sadly its with the buyer to sort out. If the person who recieved the item doesn't send it back to you or give it the the buyer I would suggest she contact the police.
  • If she opens a claim I think you'll be fine because you have a tracking number that proves that it's been signed for.

You'll probably get negged though, if the buyer is difficult.

yes. If you have sent to the Paypal address (it does not have to be confirmed anymore) and it had been signed for as regards any paypal claim you can prove delivery. I would though try your best to help find the parcel as it wont stop any bad feedback
  • other than paying the other address a visit myself there is not much i can do. but i will check to see why the post office delivered it to a different area if the post code was corrected.

Check the postcode you actually sent the item to (postcode will be on the receipt) compared to the full postcode she claims to live at on google maps and see if the suggestion stacks up.

    also check for similar addresses
unless the address is similar or its a flat number issue then the last part isnt a big issue
1st part takes it to the delivery office
  • the actual postcode on the receipt, and one she provided afterwards (the correct one) are the same. so i find it unlikely that the post office have delivered it to another area.

she claimed to have "had hundreds of item sent to this address with no issues", yet in a year on ebay she still has no feedback !

she tried to get me to send another item out but although i had one ready to dispatch i refused to as soon as i knew it had been delivered somewhere.

she's been very nice about it all, i just wouldn't be surprised if she now tries it on and claims she couldn't get her item. she can go swivvle because she's picked the wrong week to test my patience !!!

    is it a main door?
you see i often jibe people about not using correct/full addresses
they do nothing, then when its a different postie who doesnt know their unique address style
    they're quick enough to moan
  • i think so, its not a flat, just a house number.

its the fact she had the same error on her ebay and paypal, which either suggests stupidity, or an attempt to try it on.
