thanks
i see there is alot of people prefering the slings.
i don't want to turn this into real nappies and disposable type thread, but it's interesting.
i looked at the air first, but prefer the extra support if possible, so that would be active or synergy. but for the mesh got to pay more and with the comments about, the padded version of active might be better so back on the list of choice.
will consider the slings, but will do a bit more reading, testing if possible thanks.
this will be used by myself more (male), not the mother with feeding etc.
we have the bugaboo so got to get it's use out of that too0 -
If you are keen to have something that looks mainstream and masculine then a soft structured carrier is probably going to suit you best. My OH has one in a camouflage fabric.

Thanks to those that recommended slingmeet
I've read their info and registered on the forums. I'm currently only 9wks pg so wont be buying for a while but want to get the research in early as it will possibly have a bearing on the pushchair I choose.

Just thought i'd mention that if you go for a Moby, which costs around £40, all it is is a long piece of material - you can very easily buy and make your own for about £15 in fabric store.0

When you try the carrier on think about how easy it is to do - I think they look hard to put on/off with a newborn to hold too. I have a freedom sling and it is so easy and comfy. I got it in a cream colour and my hubby didn't mind wearing it and found it comfy. I could hold my baby in it until he could sit up really easily for ages. I use to get loads of lovely comments when I was wearing it and babies look so comfy in it.

i know you are after a carrier but I thought I would post in case anyone wanted more info on slings if they were thing of getting a carrier/sling. Hope you don't mind.SAHM Mummy tods (born Oct 2007) and dd (born June 2010)0 -
thanks for the different options
i like the carrier as baby can face forward and backward accordingly to size. i know some slings allow this.
also i like carriers as it seems easy to adjust and fit.
i can definately cross of the one shoulder over slings, as i prefer the two padded shoulder straps due to my own shoulder aching etc.0 -
Someone may have said this, but apparently, as babies get bigger the pre-shaped slings, as it were, like the Baby bjorn, are so heavy in the shoulders that parents give up using them, whereas with a fabric sling the weight is much mor eevenly distributed across the back and hips as well as shoulders so you can babywear for much longe, plus you can tie them in different holds to suit you on the day.
I have a Kari-Me but have yet to use it as Lilia is only 4 days old and I've not been brave enough to try it out yet.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
