Recycling bath water to water the garden???

Wonder if anyone can help.
I like the odd bath, but in the recent hot spells it struck me that it'd be good if I could somehow direct the used water outside so I could use it on the garden.
My bathroom has a window near the bath, so potentially, I could make a syphon but I wondered... have any of you done anything similar...?

An ex boyfriend's dad did he put a funnel and a pipe at the top of the drain and collected the water in a butt, they used a watering can to water his veggie patch, dunno how well the veggies grew mind you!!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0

My dad did something with the pipes for this. He found the pipe that drained the bath (in our case it was on the outside) and put in an attachment he got at a hardware store. It replaces a section of the pipe. Hard to explain, but basically instead of being just a cylinder it has a tap coming off of it which you can attach a hose to. Depending on whether the tap is on or off the water can be diverted to the garden or just drained away as normal.
If you had plenty of time you could make several trips with a bucket. It's much cheaper.0 -
Is it good for the garden though with all the shampoo and bath oil etc?Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I wouldn't use it on any plants you're going to eat. At my place it only goes on the lawn, and if it's overly soapy we don't use it at all.0

Lol.. I tend to use my baths for a soak, so they don't tend to have too much shampoo, or oil etc in them. Just hate to see all that water going to waste!
A bit of soap is easily diluted in the volume of water involved and won't do the plants any harm. Syphoning is of course an option, but involves an awful lot of suck! And unfortunately, can't carry bucketfuls through the house!
Sort of interested in the pipe idea mentioned above, though it has to be something I can do myself and not get someone in to fix for me!0 -
Sombody from canadia replied to another post on the same subject, the advice from over ther was not to do it because of anal scratchings.
ps good morning hope you not eating breakfast.

Really, the question was a serious one. I'm not sure what you get up to in your bath Ray - perhaps we'd rather not know your definition of relaxation.0

Hello. There is one in argos to help you to syphon it. A lady I knew did it very sucessfully.

Thanks MrsFarnie - I'm going to take a look as soon as the Argos site's up and running in the morning! :T0

My friend came up with a good solution to this issue a couple of years ago when we were experiencing that hosepipe ban.
He obtained a small and cheap bilge pump (for boats) off eBay, attached a short piece of hose and fitted a connector to the other end so that a longer section can be attached when it was being used (and removed making it easy to store) Living in a ground floor flat means this hose can either run through the living room or out of the bathroom window.
A spare car battery provides sufficient power and can be placed next to the bath when it is needed.
It takes about 10 minutes maximum to empty the bath and my Ornamental Cherry certainly didn't complain on the test run!0
