in Techie Stuff
Hi folks, my LCD tv was delivered last week - 37PF5520D/10
I tried to hook the Xbox360 up to it, to see what it was like in HD mode. The Xbox guide says to put the red/green/blue leads in the back of the TV, and then the red and white in the side (for sound)
Only problem is that I dont have any spaces elsewhere for the HD connection. And, the 'HD' space in the back of the TV is totally different to any of the leads that come with the Xbox. I did however get it working in normal mode (red/white/yellow on the side with Xbox in Tv mode) and it is fab. Im just dying to see the difference, if any.
Again, Im not very techie minded so apologies for the lack of jargon!
Thanks
Lally

Here is a link from the Xbos site showing you how to connect it to an HD television

Have a look at http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php . This site is full of HD and Xbox360 enthusiasts - someone will be able to help you there!Waddle you do eh?0

Our LCD doesn't actually have the RGB sockets. I think it's more of an American standard, not all LCD tv's in Europe have that form of HD connection.
I bought the VGA cable (£15 or so, look on Play.com) and connected it up via the d-Sub connection. The tv then just treats it like a PC."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
hi, with that tv you should have recieved a cable which will plug into the dvi socket through a vga to dvi convertor which will in turn give you component out, i know it sounds long winded,
basically this cable has 3 phono (component) sockets, the other end of this cable is vga style, this connects to a vga to dvi coverter, which connects to the dvi on your telly, the red and white connect next to it.Waddle you do eh?0 -

Yeah, I got the connector with the TV. But there is nowhere on the xbox to connect it to. Just like there is nowhere on the Tv to connect the HD/Xbox links to.
I found a link which explains it. http://www.xbox360hd.net/cables.html The largest photo, at the top.....What I need is the lead on the right. But I have the one on the left. It is also pictured at the very bottom and says it should be available 'soon'0 -
I have found a few stockists of the cable I need. Now I know its name, Im going to see if I can get one at lunctime. Failing that, I will order one from Play.0

Here's the one I got:

Not too badly priced. Was considering going for the official version (it's around £18), but I must say the Joytech does feel quite solid. I've been very happy with it, works great with my 32" LCD."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
So are you guys saying that the Xbox 360 Component HD-AV Cable is actually useless for LCD TVs?????????? I bought one instead of the VGA HD AV Cable thinking that it would be full proof for my future flat panel TV.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Not all LCD Tv's. Some have it, others don't. It all depends upon the tv. I've got a decent 32" Panasonic but it seems to have everything but Component. I made the mistake too of getting the cable before the tv."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
