I went in May. I hated it but my kids loved it! Personally I found the accomadation to be dirty and smelly but that may have just been me! The swimming pool area was great, the kids wanted to stay in there all day. There was also a good play area. The beach could called hardly be called a beach though it was so small and all other activities (and there are loads available) cost extra money.Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. I went in July 2007 (probably a bit long ago though), and I had quite a nice caravan to be honest (it had loads of candles though, which was rather strange, I think I counted 20 or so dotted around!), but than I only used it as a base and went out for day trips. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

Craig Tara is ok, better during the week rather than weekends when it can be a bit rough. Accomodation is either Caravans or Chalets, i would stay in the Caravans as again the chalets can be a bit rowdy..0

We have been a few times and stayed in both caravans and chalets. The accommodation has always been fine and I have no cpmplaints, the park itself can get a bit busy and rowdy but so can anywhere where a lot of people are together.
Your ds will love all the characters that they have and as he is quite young he may not be at the "I neeeeed (random plastic toy)" stage. Prices are a bit more expensive that local supermarket and bars but all holiday camps are the same as they have a captive clientele.
Next to the camp there is Heads of Ayr farm park which has a petting zoo and some rides that the children can go on, I have never been but I have looked at it and it does look good although your ds may be a bit young.
You will probably have heard reports of young teens running amok and making a nuisance of themselves, I can honestly say that each time I have been I have never had any problem with teens or gangs, yes there are a lot hanging about but they do not cause bother (that I have seen).
Check out some review websites like holiday watchdog and tripadvisor you will get varying reviews but on balance I think it is an okay place and I will go back in future.
Hope you have a great time xx0
