we have a really grotty bathroom at the back of our house which needs totally replacing. It's 2m x 2.5m
Have been given a quote of £1,945, which includes -
Labour - (£1,520) for
removing existing doorframe
extending door frame (there is a really narrow doorframe at present)
fit new lining and door
Remove suspended ceiling
install electrics to switched and lighting 1st fix
fit new plasterboard to ceiling, insulate and plaster finish
Remove bath suite
remove floor covering
Level and screed floor
Waterproof/damp treatment to walls and floor
run new under floor pipework
run new pipework ro new new positions
Bonding coat to walls
Plaster coat walls
install new suite
Install radiator
Tiling to walls
Tile floor
Paint and finish ceiling, walls and woodwork
2nd fix fittings and lighting
hire akro stands
Unit/cupboards TBA (I spoke to him about fitting in a unit, but not 100%)
Materials to be supplied (£425)
Concrete lintel support
Door lining architrave
plasterboard
finishing plaster
bonding coat
timber
cable and fittings
damp couse membrane
levelling compound
copper pipes and fittings
waste pipe and fittings
insulation
tile adhesive
floor adhesive
ceiling and woodwork paint and u/coat
not included is taps, bathroom suite, tiles, lighting, door & fixtures, unit, shower, radiator, wall paint
I think this sounds very reasonable, but really don't know the first thing about home repairs!!
thanks.
ps. Will search the forums, but can anyone recommend a good place for bathroom suites, tiles etc? Are the standard out of town stores any good? (e.g. the bath store, Topps tiles etc.)

Without seeing the job it sounds ok.
2 weeks work ish?
As far as tiles and adhesive etc, if you can open or find some one who already has a trade account at Tile Giant you'll get significant discounts on all materials. In wood we trust.0 -

Bathroom suites, try http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/plumb/index.html you're better off ringing them up as their website is mainly 'for show'
There are some decent places on the net http://www.lowcostbathrooms.com/
