I'm going wireless soon (today if it arrives  ) but want the pc and laptop to run smooth and secure before setting it up,
we have on both
XP pro (no sp2 PC)
xp home sp2 (laptop)
AVG free
zonealarm free
spybot S&D free
mircosoft built in firewall (switched on)
regisrty mechanic 5.1
Ccleaner
NoClone
PC Pitstop optimizer
firefox (pc only) :T
IE (pc sometime laptop all the time daughter wont change :wall:)
is this ok or is there something else we'll need or have i gone overboard.
Also when we set up wireless  Will we still need zonealarm and mircosofts fire wall switch on.

Spywareblaster and/or IEspyad
(puts a huge list of bad sites into your Restricted Zone)
I use both and wouldn't start IE without them0 -

Wireless or not, switch off the inferior Microsoft firewall.

IEspyad is for Internet Explorer only So on the PC run with Firefox you don't need it (though it won't hurt - It's not a running program, it just adds a big list of addresses to IE's built in Restricted Zone Feature)
Spywareblaster offers some protection to Firefox as well as IE so I'd put that on both.0 -

No dont do this as leaving it on wont harm, also some firewall programs
automatically disable it anyway, best thing to do is leave it on and let
a real firewall program do what it wants to do to windows firewall.0 -

Zone Alarm will detect and disable the Windoze firewall if running XP SP2.
There is no benefit leaving it on, and it is safer to switch it off to avoid any possible conflicts as advised by Zone Alarm.

Why would you turn it off is Zone Alarm disables it.
