I've just had the usual pop up telling me I have infections but instead of about 50 low risk cookies , it's claiming I have 460 rogue antispy software infections which are an elevated risk due to aggressive and deceptive advertising:eek:

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
Your call Atomized. Ive simply posted links for you to double check
Personally id at LEAST scan with malwarebytes as it tends to find things others dont:idea:0 -
I dont know what your antivirus is? Youve mentioned 'pc tools spyware'. They do 'spyware doctor' but its NOT an anti virus program. Its specifically for spyware. So do you HAVE an antivirus program? (norton, mcafee, avg, avast, avira etc?):idea:0

f all that crap u can scan ur computer with scanner after scanner and u will never get rid of it all
CCleaner just deletes all the temp storage space where they hide!! run this and run any scanner u like and they wont find anything except the scanners that show fake finds so u buy them.0 -
At a rough guess you have a program that claims to be anti-spyware but is in fact a means for extorting money from you.I've just had the usual pop up telling me I have infections but instead of about 50 low risk cookies , it's claiming I have 460 rogue antispy software infections which are an elevated risk due to aggressive and deceptive advertising:eek:
Can anyone explain what this means?
If you are lucky then that's all it's doing, if not then it's busy installing lots of spyware and other junkware on your computer.
Suggest you have a read of the Malware/Spyware Removal Guide thred0 -
PC Tools is owned by symantec, so it is reputable enough. In fact, the very first time I had a virus on my computer, it was the only program that shifted it.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Youll be happy to know your computers fine (At least going off them logs)
Never EVER click online links about security though ~ theyre dodgy as hell:idea:0 -
I didn't. My pc scans each day I switch it on and for some reason I had 400 odd infections:eek:
I did hear clicks when I was on a site yesterday ( can't remember which one) so i'm guessing it was that , at least I have proof that my virus/spyware is working I suppose.
Thats a 'drive by' script
I use FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin to stop them personally
Dodgy scripts work by you simply going onto an 'infected' webpage. If the scripts allowed to run and you have nothing else running to stop it then youll get infected:idea:0
