IIRC they just had one person checking the forum at the weekend, I wouldn't expect a reply until tomorrow.

In my experience, contacting the CEO of a large company like this gets me spectacular results.

Carphone Warehouse Group/Talk Talk, Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive dunstoc@cpwplc.com

    from: http://www.connectotel.com/marcus/ceoemail.html

Using this route I have had immediate and satisfactory results from BT, Sky and John Lewis Direct.

In other cases I have had great success with posting on a specific forum as suggested earlier in this thread. For me it was Madasafish on the MSE forums and Plusnet on their own forum.

Have you contacted BT at all? I was able to contact them about my awful broadband connection even though Madasafish were my ISP. BT ended up rewiring my whole road after I contacted their CEO ;)

    Thanks, Miniemma.

Getting the name and email address of the Car Phone Warehouse CEO is the type of gold dust information that I was hoping might come out when I posted on this forum. I'll get on to him before the day is out.

Re BT, as I said at the beginning of the thread, I got on to them first of all but was told (a) the issue I reported (a BT customer being assigned my number) was impossible and (b) that I had to deal with the problem through TalkTalk as I was a TalkTalk customer.

I'll try the BT CEO because it irked a bit being told that my experience was impossible. It smacked of arrogance and condescension (the customer is a moron who should not be taken seriously ...). If it's impossible, then I would love to know why I've had 2 different people ring me up in the last year claiming to be BT customers who have been allocated my number.

    Thanks again.

An excellent and efficient response after using the TalkTalk members forum. My incoming calls were back by 9pm last night!

Many thanks again Lorian for pointing me towards the TT forums. After months of trying to get the problem sorted with over 20 messages plus phone calls to other parts of TalkTalk, the forums were a revelation in terms of their speed and efficiency. However, because of all the time I have lost using the other TT channels, I will push on with my claim for compensation.

From the way my problem was dealt with, it seems that some parts of the TalkTalk organisation are obscuring/blocking the very effective work of other parts of their team. This type of thing is not uncommon in very large organisations that have been set up relatively recently.

Thanks to all you people who posted with advice. I, in turn, will keep you posted on how my request for compensation is treated.

P.S. EmmaL sent you a private message as requested. You can see my latest post on the TT forum.
