What is a counter mixed credit?

I paid a cheque into my bank and it's showing up as a 'counter mixed credit' rather than a 'counter card credit'. What the heck is a 'mixed credit'?
If I do a Google search it appears to be something to do with international finance, but I'm no Madoff!
