I find if you are buying something, do your research. I bought new bedroom furniture and went in having already looked at their website. They gave me a price and I flat out refused it, stating that I can get it cheaper from themselves by ordering online, thus making the shop assistant lose out on his commission.

Eventually I got my stuff for £300 less that the web price by just saying no at the price he quoted to see what he did. Instead of saying he couldnt do it any cheaper, he just played with the calculator and gave me a lower figure.

I'd have settled on the web price if that was the best he could do, but he didnt know that.
