Dear all,
sorry for making a new thread, but I am just so confused...
set up the Lloyds air miles duo last month, and the first thing I did was set up a direct debit to pay off the full amount (hve a letter confirming this 22nd june)
but now i log on, and i am being charged for late payments and interest. i called lloyds up and they said that my statement will tell me how to pay it off, but the billing date was the 20th July and they said my statement would come in a few days.
but if i have set up a direct debit (to my hsbc bank account) so shouldnt it just pay off automatically?
any help is greatly appreciated

Hmmm. Might be tight on the dates. If the direct debit was setup as part of the call to activate the card then it should have been okay. If you setup the direct debit after they produced the statement then it wouldn't apply.
DD was setup on the 22nd June. Payment due date was 20th July? When was the June statement produced?
Refer to your June statement for manual payment details."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
When you call them to set up the direct debit they should say to you "continue to make a payment as usual until confirmation of the direct debit appears on your statement".
You need to look at your last statement. Does it say something like "the amount of £xx.xx will be collected from your bank account via direct debit"?
If not, then that means the direct debit was not set up by then and they still expected you to make a manual payment.
If so, then the bank has made an error, and you should point this out to them. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
