Merlin annual pass

I was thinking of getting a Merlin annual pass...20% discount at the moment.

Is this good value at the moment....Lots of 2 for 1 deals going on at present and that lessens the value of the card.

Does anyone really pay full price to get into a theme park nowadays ?

What comes with the Merlin card ? A welcome booklet destailing what it is and where i can use it ?

merlin pass covers legoland, alton towers, warwick castle, chessington, the london dungeons, london aquarium, madame tussards, all sea life centres, thorpe park, london eye....and more im sure You also get think 10% off food/gifts etc in most of these outlets by showing the card (def in legoland)

We got ours via the tesco clubcard deals last year for £37.50 worth of points and considering these venues cost between £15-35 entrance usually, even using the 2 for 1's you only have to go a few times for it to pay for itself even paying full price for it.

over the last year we have used ours in hol time to go to
    legoland 3 times
    london eye 4 times
    sea life in weymouth
    chessington,
    london aquarium,
madame tussards. so i would say, well worth the money!

says on the card where you can use it, and you can sign up to an email newsletter which keeps you up to date and tells you of any special cardholder events happening
Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞
  • its a no-brainer if you use tesco vouchers

We're busily saving our CC points for 4 Merlin Passes- I've never, ever, paid full price for a theme park, and we've worked out it'll save us a fortune :)

Plus with a Merlin Pass you get discounts in all the retail/food outlets as well. Most places the discounts are 20% - (Legoland shops 10%) so even the usual daily spend on ice-creams coffees etc is well and truly reduced.

Also when visiting Warwick Castle you get free car parking - usually £5 - in one car park.

This discount gives you greater spending power - if the kids have £10 saved pocket money then they have £12.50 to blow - iyswim!

We must have saved a fortune over the past year with our pass in this way alone. Plus when you have your passes to renew them is half price - our renewal has just come thru for £75- so a bigger outlay the first year then cheaper from then on in.

Hope this helps you make your decision!

Oh and another thing I just remembered - this year we were "invited" to a special preview day just for pass holders -before Legoland opened to the general public.

We went there! It was a great day. You also get into Alton towers an hour before people turning up on the day do.

    Well worth it imo.

Merlin is Pulling a fast one with their Annual cards. Received this message today,

    London Attractions Exclusions
In order to ensure the best possible guest experience and to abide with Health & Safety restrictions, entrance into The London Eye, Madame Tussauds London, London Dungeon & SEA LIFE London Aquarium is restricted to after 3pm for Merlin Annual Pass Holders throughout the whole of August.
    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I wont be renewing, be very aware the could add other Dates and Attractions all on the ground of safety!, funny they did not mention this when I purchased Five Annual Pass's,
and they have been marketing their cards very strongly in the past few months.
  • WE HAVE FOUR PASSES THROUGH TESCO - VERY HAPPY UNTIL RECEIVED EMAIL IN MY SPAM FOLDER TODAY SAYING ONLY ALLOWED IN TO FOLLOWING ATTRACTIONS AFTER 3PM DURING AUGUST

NO MENTION ON MERLIN SITE STILL SAYS UNLIMITED ENTRANCE - WHOLE IDEA OF GETTING PASSES WAS TO GO TO LONDON DURING HOLIDAYS AND MAKE USE OF THEM - HAVE SENT VERY DISGRUNTLED EMAIL TO MERLIN!!
BUT If you are close to London then you will of course be able to use passes all through other months in year and on inset days if you have kids

I'm not overly happy with the new "safety" rules, but still intend to renew as my kids love legoland, chessington and Alton Towers. Question is, am I able to renew my family of 4 passes with £300 (current renewal price) in clubcard vouchers, if I take them to the park I orignally bought them from?

Deals only allow you to exchange for individual passes (and are pay in full deals), so you would need to have enough in deals for 4 passes.
