Is this a scam?

Nadolig Llawen! (Merry Christmas!) ;D ;D ;D

Answered  the phone the other day in work to hear an automated message (female) stating that it was B.T with a text message for us . It requested me to press 1,2 or 3, can't remember all the options but one of them was to listen to the message. Our admin took the phone off me and placed the receiver down stating it was a scam.
Is it a scam or is it genuine? ???

  • I would contact BT's free customer care line and ask them!
Tell them what has happened and they will be able to tell you and advise of what to do.

I did that when I got 2 'telegrams' asking me to phone a number as someone had tried to contact me. They arrived in yellow and blue suspicious looking envelopes with 'BT-Gram' or something like that printed on the envelope flap. There was no other identifying info but a phone number.

After much searching I found that BT do a 3rd party telegram service and the company trying to contact me was in fact my HP company because they wanted to tell me I had overpaid after my last installment but they had no joy phoning me!!

Here's me thinking that someone was trying to scam money from me when all the time they wanted to give ME money!!

  • I've had several calls lately, all recorded messages that click in as soon as I answer the phone. I get a long spiel about this fantastic prize I've won, all I have to do to find out more is press a particular number on my phone. These calls are usually american, I always hang up as I think they could be trying to get you on to a high charge phone call. Has anyone else experienced these calls, or know anything about them?

Same here. I had no idea about this and I got the same message. Needless to say my suspicious side took over and I put the phone down.

Turns out it was my son who'd sent a message but had neglected to tell me about the service. ::)

    Diolch! :) Thanks all.
I'll let them know in work that B.T provides this service although you would think that BT would advertise a bit better wouldn't you?
