The price looks good to me but there is one hell of a price premium on LED TVs right now. I wouldn't pay what amounts to about double the price of a standard cold cathode model but obviously the choice is yours.0

Have you actually seen one working, properly set up? I confess that I haven't seen an LED TV so I can't comment, certainly £1700 seems quite pricey for a 46" TV. But if the quality's that good then maybe it is worth it. But you must go and look at one first.0

You can get a 50" Panasonic with built in Free Sat for less then that0

Its Not an LED TV, i.e one where the picture is generated using LEDs for the display.
Its an LCD TV that uses LEDs for the backlight. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Correct - There are no true LED TVs on the market. Apparently they do offer some picture improvement over cod cathode sets but as I originally said I wouldn't pay double price for the improvement.0 -
Dont LED tv's have a higher rate of going wrong though? just something i heard.0

I have seen this TV in the flesh and the picture quality is very impressive. But if you get it now you'll be buying at the 'top of the market'. If you can hold off a couple of months you should get a much better deal.0

I've seen 1, they've very thin and do have a great, how can I describe it?, not just a basic brightness, but a sort of pop-out solid quality to the picture.
Buy one for your 51st instead and it'll be half the price!
I'm ready to buy another big screen before the end of the year. Going towards a 50" 1080p plasma for £1,000 or less. Actually plenty around, even just on Amazon. No worries about plasmas getting old as they're a more mature technology. OLED will be along in 5-10 years time.
I spent £1,600 after loads of research years ago on my current Samsung 40" LCD. It was one of the 1st 1080p TVs available, my old CRT had broken, and I knew I'd regret not getting full HD. I see the price of them now and cringe a bit, but then it's still a good TV, and not an 'outdated' 720 one....
