THANKS Button

Is it me or is the "Thanks" button being a little over used?!
Take this thread for example:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1633193
On the first post 7 people have thanked the author for finding the post useful, what's useful about it?
There are dozens of other examples, I could go on!
When I visit many forums there is a THANKS button, this happens to be the worst site where it is used!

This is a moneysaving site and the thanks button is free to use, it is not always about thanking a useful post.
I personally would like to see the thanks count dropped but the button left in place.0 -
Sometimes the "thanks" button is pressed to show support to a poster or to say "that was funny" if its a joke or amusing etc.Its not always to say "finding the post useful"0

Things might be changing so that thanks (and maybe posts) in The MSE Arms don't count towards your total.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well I deliberately haven't THANKED you for your post because I personally think your post is totally a waste of effort
I know the MSE gurus have thoughts about changing the way the thanks is reported and used on certain areas of this forum and I have already voiced my opinions as to what I think about it
But just incase they are reading this then here's my stance on the matter
LEAVE THE THANKS ALONE OR GET RID OF IT ACROSS ALL FORUMS, DON'T BE SELECTIVE, MY STANCE IS WE ARE ALL EQUALS HERE
and here's a little reminder as to what a lot of other people think on this matter

they can change the face of the world.
