Take MBNA offer before limit reduction?

The 19K unused would definitely have something to do with it. I would speak to an underwriter and request that that £19k is moved across to a new Virgin MBNA card. They will do this put sometimes need a push.
I think you could successfully appeal that particular decline.
Thanks, I'll bear this in mind, but am sorted for the time being. I didn't want to appeal because I didn't want to "reveal" my banking details or potentially have them contacting my employer. Not sure if they would have done that.
I previously had an unused 22K MBNA (MBNA gold) when I applied for the BMI MBNA card. They gave me 3K on BMI. I phoned them up and got them to transfer the limit over, but requested a reduction to 16K. (They put it up to 19K of their own bat.)
So I didn't think it would be an issue - but I suppose we are in different times.0 -

Recently I applied for a new credit card with MBNA as they were offering free motorcycle luggage which I wanted. As a result they have cut my credit limit to £2K and offered just £1K on the new card, in other words have cut my credit limit by £5.5K. They said this was because I wasn't earning as much as previously... they wouldn't have known that if I hadn't applied for the second card so BE VERY CAREFUL if you apply for a second card with them! I am so angry :mad:I have cancelled both accounts. I would like to shout, scream and swear at them ...all suggestions as to what MBNA could stand for gratefully received!!!
I know it must be frustrating, but in this age, with accusations of "irresponsible lending" by the banks, surely a reduced income is good reason to offer a reduced limit?
I'm sorry if I sound harsh, and I can understand how you may feel duped, but it's just you see it mentioned so many times in this forum about how the credit companies are at fault for offering limits people can't sustain.

I just think it's annoying that they make decisions on what limited information they know about you rather than your track record. Thanks for all your advice and sympathy !0
