What do I use to stitch upholstery webbing together with ?

Is it easier to hand stitch or machine ?

Where is Webbing is seat webbing that is tacked ? like strips? Im unsure of what you mean? when Ive used webbing on seats we have a webber that you strain tight and tack or staple then hessien over top ect....

I dont really know where your coming from?

Hi Beginner, thanks for dropping in.

Want to use it on my car seat, Rover Mini, as the 'diaphragm' you can purchase is naff !

I'll be doubling the webbing, and make it into a mesh, with rods going through the looped ends of the webbing, attaching to hooks that sit in the seat frame.

If someone can tell me how I can display a scanned diagram in this thread, i can sketch what I want to do.

Personally, i would use a good strong thread - something like this. http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-Jeans-Thread-Yards-Gold/dp/B000UXFF5C

I would overlap the two ends by a good few inches and machine sew in the classic square box with X in fashion - if you know what I mean - the way bag straps are often stitched.
Although, now I'm wondering if you mean stitching the whole double bit together, just leaving unstiched loops at the ends for the rods, in which case I guess, stitch the whole lot down each side and along the loop ends, then do a box and X at each end.

you will need a high breaking strength braid for stitching.if you go to any fishing tackle shop they will sell braid as it is used by most anglers instead of nylon line now.
anglers stole the idea from upolstery thread originally.
you will also need special upolstery needles (hand or machine sewing) from most haberdashery depts ,

Circular needles for what they need it for would have to be the large strong 1, and thread these days are weak Im afraid, they dont make em like they used to lol.
