Buying a Xbox 360

Hi There.

Im going against all my morals and decided to buy a xbox 360. the thing is being a ps3 fanboy for some time, just looking at the different 360 consoles and bundles gives me a headache. was woundering if someone could help me out. im looking to spend £250-£275 but if it was the right deal i would spend more. this is what im looking for

> Xbox 360 Console
> Call of Duty 5
> Wireless Controller
> Xbox Live Gold Year
and if possible but not needed as much > Call of Duty 4 : Modern Welfare
anything else would be extra.

any other things i might need or recommended would be handy
i believe you get a headset with the premium version and that its wired, i dont do alot of talking in games so a wireless headset wouldnt be nessacery but if it was included in a bundle the it would ok .

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks
Alex

My premium 360 came with a wireless controller, and although I've never used mine, I believe the wired headset plugs into the controller, not the Xbox. So it being wired isn't such a handicap.

As for price, it's pretty much the same price everywhere.

I bought the Premium Console (60GB) from Currys for about £250+ - It came with PGR4/Sonic Tennis/COD:5 + Wireless Controller - 1 month XBLive - Headset (Wired)

I guess if you slapped another game + 1 year live on top of that you'd be looking at the top end of your budget but prices have varied and there are cheaper places then currys.

    Thanks inflatedcow for that.

I just read that the controller is run by 2xAA batteries. can these be charged from the console via a usb cbale or something replaced when finished.,

Gold membership allows you to play online, access to 1vs100 beta, demos 1 week early and certain deals on the marketplace.

If you use AA batteries they can not be charged via the controller, you need the special rechagable battery for that. you need need to replace/recharge them.

You can buy small charger kits that plug into your controller and charge as you play, I think you can also use this as a leaded replacement but you need the whole kit and the batteries need to remain in the controller for this to work.

On a side note, I think Dixons currently stock the 60GB 360 for under £160 - Not sure if anyone does it cheaper.

I think that's the one but I've seen different pictures of it which had a wire and such, I don't use these anyway - I went into Tesco (2AM hunting for batteries:D) and found a complete recharger kit that came with 4XAA batteries and the charger unit. So now I have 2 in the controller to play on, and the other two on charge - and then just swap them over when they die. The whole thing cost about the same so I guess its up to you.

Unfortunately no, as you'll need to decide how to charge it. If you get the play and charge kit, then you get the cable and the battery.

The other option is the Quick charge kit.

Don't pay any more than £30 for 12 months Xbox live. In fact you should be able to get it for around £28 from one of the on-line sites.
