    Copy > Paste > Delete. :)

You can use WinDirStat for a graphical representation of what is filling your HDD and so more easily decide what you would like to move.

You need to get your 'C' Drive down to no more than 85%, preferably less, for it nto run properly.
Then run Defrag and Disk Cleanup.
Moving the data is not complicated, it's just the same as moving any other file around, except in this case you are moving it from one drive to another.

It only looks complicated. After you install and run WinDirStat and select to look at what is on your C: drive, it will give you a graphical representation of such.
That way you can easily find the files taking up the most space on your C: drive. Of course you shouldn't move any core Windows files. :)

Before you get started, download install and run CCleaner. During installation, untick the bottom four of the six selections open to you, leaving only the Shortcut and Quick Launch options ticked. Continue.

Once completed, open CCleaner and select Run Cleaner.

It is a very good idea to keep your documents on a separate drive (eg. D:).

To move something from one to the other, open up two folders (one for each drive) and drag things from one to the other. It is a good idea to create folders to put things in on your target drive rather than just putting loads of files in the top-level.

You can also clear space by deleting temporary files, eg. Internet Explorer has an option to delete temp files, or use the aforementioned disk cleanup.

Double Click on the D: drive Once in, Right Click in the empty space and choose 'New' and then Folder'. Name the folder anything you like.

Now we have to find what is taking up the space on your C: drive. Music? Video? Do you know?

Just move your documents and picture folders over, that'll be a start.

Hi Bomber2. Don't panic, this is very straight forward.

OK, an assumption first - you are talking about Pictures, documents, etc which are saved in My Documents on C drive.

    • The really easy way to move everything in My Documents is to open My Documents,
    • press CTRL and A together which will select everything in that folder.
    • Now press CTRL and X which will cut the files from their present location
    • Open your D drive from My Computer
    • Now press CTRL and V to paste them
It really is simple. There are other ways to do it, but let me know if this doesn't work for you.

Also, if you don't want to copy EVERYTHING, or you don't have the space. You can select a folder such as My Pictures (or even an individual file) and then follow the instructions from 'Now press CTRL and X....' onwards.

If you are unhappy with using keypresses then you can right-click the mouse on the file / folder and choose CUT (rather than CTRL and X) then in D drive, right-click and hit PASTE (rather than CTRL and V).
