Driveway service not completed 2 years on

Hi,
I am looking for some advice on where I stand with a company we employed to do our driveway. In Aug 07 we paid someone to do our driveway - it was a huge job and they quoted us reasonably for it so we employed them to do it. They done it and we were really satisfied with the result. However, in their written quotation they gave us they quoted for a Resin Coating to be applied 3-6months after the drive had been laid to stop weeds etc. Well 9 months after the drive was laid we called them and were told due to the weather it wasnt possible and they would contact us when they were in the area (they are based 5 miles away). August last year I contacted them again and got a call back from the guy who is responsible for doing the driveway sealing and said he was away on holiday for 4 weeks and when he got back he would call us and do it! Nothing........I have called them at least a dozen times in the last few months and have had no reply to any messages. I have the mobile AND the office number and am getting nothing. They were affiliated with Brett Paving for their guarantee and also offered a 5 year workmanship guarantee - but now the driveway is getting overrun with weeds and ants are nesting under it and some of the blocks are sunk a bit - Can anyone help as to what my next move would be? Who would I contact?

Your local Trading Standards or Consumer Direct.

They have not complied with their contract to carry out the stated works to which you have paid for.

If you have letters or records of telephone calls, keep them safe, if you don't have any luck with Trading Standards or Consumer Direct then you can take them to the small claims court.

See what Trading Standards say first, if they can't do anything to help, write the company a letter stating that they have 28 days in which to complete the agreed contract of works or you will be pursuing them through civil courts.
