alpine cd radio face off

my son sold his car several weeks ago, and has now got himself another one, he went to put the expensive radio in the new car, we got him for his 21st, and now he can cant find the face bit , we think it went out with the rubbish.:eek: .. so if we looked on ebay and managed to get another will the face fit the old one, or are they made differant for security reasons?? as we dont want to waste any more money, its an alpine cda

I would check this out... Both my mate and I had alpines (same models) but the faces were not interchangable. He got his base stolen and the face of mine was a mess from being kept in my pocket so I was going to buy the face from him but it wouldnt work.

Yeh you could be right with this. I've had a look into it and it seems some Alpines (higher end) have sometghing called a anti-theft DF panel.

From the model number you have supplied I don't think this has anti DF panel included. If you still have the manual etc have a look to see if it mentions it.

I had to buy a new face for a Pioneer and it worked, but it was only mid-range model.

Would you believe it, my hubby has just won a bid on a car radio, the same as my sons one, only this one is not working but we thought we would take the chance and see if the face would work, same model, the radio cost about 275 new, he paid in total 50 on ebay, when we got back my son said good news i have just found the face off, maybe we can fix this one and flog it on....
