Constant calls from 07920 819 438??

Anyone else suffer from repeated calls from this number? I've just counted 17 today so far. If I answer it is quiet then hangs up, if I leave it then it often rings off after 3-4 rings. It can go a couple of hours without ringing then I'll get 3-4 calls in the space of 5 minutes. I've tried calling the number (from a work mobile) but it doesnt get answered.

It SOUNDS like a call centre type thing, but I can't find this number anywhere or who it is.

I've just moved house and got a new number, just signed up with the telephone preference people to get my number/address removed from random things but it's getting quite annoying now so any one recognise this or have any advice?

It's rang at least 5 more times tonight since 7pm, last one was just a few minutes ago. Quite annoyed that the only option would appear to be to give BT more money to block the number!

    From the BT site.

If you are receiving persistent nuisance calls, please contact our specialist advisors at the Malicious Calls Bureau on 0800 661 441 (24hrs, 7 days a week).

Called it last night at about 11:30, told me that I can subscribe to their blocking service and gave me an option to be put through to someone, which is when it cut me off. Going to try it again during normal working hours to see if that helps.

I ended up unplugging the phone at 1am, since plugging it in again at 6:30 I've had 4 more calls.

Sounds like a kid with a mobile who just thinks its funny - probably dialled a random number and has it on speed dial.

    I was going to suggest

...but it appears you may already have!

I have a worse story: A rep for an industrial pipe company in scotland had my phone number printed on his business cards in error last year: it was only after he had handed out over 1000 of the things that the company realised the mistake. Even though I have made them aware, I still receive pipe enquiries daily (and even phonecalls from head office!)

LOL, yes, found that last night in desperation, and it was listed as a suspicious number.

Just registered for the BT Choose to Refuse thing, free for 30 days and the woman I spoke to has said it will be cancelled automatically for me after 30 days so I wont be charged. Be much better if it was completely free, however after 30 days maybe it will stop.

I think you have been VERY lucky. I'm sure we could get a good laugh if we all started to list the things we wouldn't want people ringing us for. Cleaning out some types of pipes would be included :D
