Screwfix floor tiles- colour variation & customer service

Options
Hello

I'm hoping someone can offer some advice, or let me know what my rights are. We ordered 10 boxes of vinyl floor tiles a couple of weeks ago from Screwfix. They arrived, looked ok and so we started to fit them. They were all the same bath number. Towards the end of fitting them we could see that some were slightly more orangy/peachy than others, but we seemed to have a enough so it wasn't an issue. We have now laid 80% of the floor and we have returned the boxes that are the wrong colour and ordered replacements. All the replacements are the same batch number but are the darker colour. My husband then realised that on some boxes, the batch number had a sticker over it, and underneath was a different batch number.

We asked Screwfix to investigate saying we needed 3 more boxes to match. They phoned back today (always have to wait for someone from customer services to phone you, you cannot phone them directly) and he said he had found 3 boxes in the other batch number so would order them for us. As the order was going through it was rejected as the tiles had been ordered by someone else. He said he could not get us the tiles.

What can we do? We are stuck with an 80% laid floor, have paid several hundred quid and cannot seem to get the same colour to finish the job. If we take them all up, we will have to re-screed the floor and have no guarrantee of a full refund. We have phoned the credit card company and they say we can raise a disput so we don't have to pay the amount we owe screwfix and they will suspend interest charges, but we get charged £5 if it is not a valid claim? Our case doesn;t quite fit with one of our categories, but £5 seems cheap to at least delay paying them- has anyone done this before?

Any advice appreciated

how long did you have them before you found out the problem ? the minute you realised there was a problem you should have acted not assumed you had enough .
