Ray Ban

Hi all,

Not really a Rant but i have today purchased some new prescription Ray Ban's which are rather nice (from Vision Express). However i am tad annoyed because the original lenses bear the the RB logo where as the prescription ones do not.

I have been trying to find some contact details for RB to see if i can get some stickers to go on the new lenses (they look like stickers on the original lenses). I know it will seem petty to some but i've paid all that money so i want the badge to go with it!!!

I've found contact detail for their parent group Luxottica but not convinced i'm going to get much Joy from them.

Anybody know of some Uk contact details for RB or where to get some logo's from it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

you wont get any branding for the lenses as they were not supplied by rayban!

years ago rayban was owned by B&L and they used to have a prescription lens service and frames could be sent to them to have branded lenses put in (wasn't cheap as i remember) when luxotica bought the brand they did away with the prescription service and now priscription lenses are fitted by other suppliers and will not bear any branding on the lenses .

wont look the same its actually etched into the glass, i was looking at some prescription ray bans a while ago (online) and noticed they didnt do the etched lenses, shame really because they do them in other brands (oakley i believe).

have a pair of Bolle prescription sunglasses, with logo. These lenses are made by Bolle.

Be careful, some no name lenses are not very good quality and don't have UV protection.

Reminds of me of when I was about 6, I picked out some rather sanzzy Pink Panther glasses. When I finally got them, I was in such a tizzy because they no longer had the litttle Pink Panther stickers on the lenses, like they did in the opticians. My mother had to calmly explain that the stickers were only for display in the shop, so you could see what range the frames were from, and, y'know, wouldn't be annoying trying to see anything when there's a fuzzy pink blob in the corner of your vision constantly.

Sunglasses might be a different ball-game, but I have honestly never expected a logo to appear on the lenses since that time, least of all on a prescription pair.

like i said before, its etched into the glass. its hard to see the logo from the other side and almost impossible to see it whilst wearing them, the main problem with raybans is thats their most obvious giveaway (other than aviator/wayfarer styles).
if you want to be seen wearing them but dont have the RB logo on the glasses you might as well not bother, its not about the frames its the whole package.

  • Hi thanks for your replies.

Yes i have the aviator style (RB 3025) as per your link Samba although in Black not Gold.

As has been mentioned the logo to me is part of the whole ray ban/ aviator look. Trivial to some but to me it takes away from the glasses not having it. Further inspection of the original lenses reveals they are indeed etched not stickers as i first thought.

Anyway seems like its a no go but as with many things you don't know if you don't ask.

Good luck finding contact details; I was trying to find them the other month for another reason and there was no way to contact them via the website...

Yeah that was really annoying in itself. First time i have ever come across a company that doesn't have some contact detail somewhere. Emailed their parent group but i doubt i'll ever hear anything back.
