Benefit Fraud - Should i report??
Comments

i actually agree with flossy, im sorry but how can you know 100% the neighbour is telling you the truth and not leading you down the garden path. If your ex and neighbour are good friends the neighbour could be telling you this in the hope you do report her, and if she isn't claiming all these benefits falsely you will have walked right into their little trap, for whatever reason they have planned this little game, to me a neighbour telling you this seems a little to fishy and have seen a similar little trick played before, but the person wasn't claiming benefits but was going to be soon so tested the water................Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Yes that's what i was thinking too.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

it just seems to fishy to me, if the neighbour was so concerned in telling you i would have thought they would have reported it already, wheter they will admit that to you or not is a different matterEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

This IS what you must do.
Theft is theft. If all is in order great but if taxpayers' money is being stolen, you have a duty to report her.
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0 -
As a taxpayer, I believe it IS YOUR ROLE to inform if you trust this information 100%. Quite simply, if an investigation shows that there is no issue to have been investigated.....big deal. There are too many fraudsters out there - could you imagine how much extra help there could be for the genuine claimants if the fraud wasn't so high?0
-
anxious mum sorry but i think you are expecting that if the person in question is actually commiting fraud that the benefits will be stopped and she'll be sent to jail as punishment, highly unlikely for a 1st time offence.
Reason i say this as some friends,,,,well more of an aquiantance of mine was recently found out for benefit fraud, they basically claimed as singles living together the amount was over £3000, they were taking to court, let off with a warning but ordered to pay the amount back........the amount the court ordered to be paid back weekly took them under the governements set amount to leave on....so what happened i hear you say, they must have starved, lost the roof over there head...........no much better...........there benefits were increased to cover this amount.....so who paid the amount back, thats right the tax payer.
Sorry to sound so cynical but the whole benfits system is a sham, it needs a complete overhaul with better checking procedures, made less complicated and harsher punishments......IMOEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
my 2 cents...how would you feel if someone snook into your house and took money from your purse...you wouldn't be best pleased, same applies to benefit fraudsters they're taking money out of your purse. If you feel that someone is stealing benefit money then it should be reported, its up the the dwp to investigate.0

Leave it to the experts to investigate, they are well aware that some of the tips won't lead anywhere.
I say go ahead - the OP can feel better knowing that his part as a citizen is done when he reports the intelligence he's been given and the investigators have the means and knowledge to verify if its true. It's not his fault if the neighbour has misunderstood the situation or is being malicious.0 -

We are ALL entitled to an opinion.
The OP asked for people's opinions, I have given mine.
So perhaps you could just chill?
Did I say I was suggesting the reason not to was a fear of being known or to leave it to someone else to do? No, that's right, I didn't.
You're miles off the mark so how about asking instead of attacking?
I gave my chilled opinion.0 -

Ok, turn that quote on its head - how do you know that no-one else will report her and she will blame you regardless of the truth.0
