sold a 6 piece item, buyer is not happy with 1 part, i offered exchange of the damaged part like for like (all at my cost ) or full refund if all returned, buyer wants a partial refund of 25% of total price paid as this they say is the cost to repair, would you refund this amount or insist all parts are returned ( at my cost). I do state on my auctions that i dont give partial refunds which makes me worry as they should of read this. Not sure what would be the best thing to do. Got a feeling a neg might come my way if i dont do as the buyer wants.

How much is the 1 part you need to change worth? More than 25% of the purchase price?
If not, tell them it's either a replacement of the 1 part or return the whole lot for a full refund. You don't need to pay the return postage.
If the buyer isn't happy, tell them to raise a claim and then ebay will tell them the same, only that they'll need to return the item at their cost and using a service that gives on line proof of delivery."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Hi
If you offer the item on sale or return in the listing then it is up to you. If they paid by Paypal and you want to give a partial refund then go on to the item description on Paypal and just return the amount that has been agreed. Paypal will adjust their fees accordingly.0 -
get it all returned and then give full refund, they might be trying it onmortui non mordent0

if they're doing this through paypal, then unfortunately if you refuse, paypal will give the buyer all their money back once they've sent the item back to you, if you then want YOUR money back, you have to send the item to AMERICA tracked, but you don't get a refund on postage there.. scammers.. this happened to me for a laptop that a buyer completely destroyed whilst trying to fix it up, it would've cost me around £70 to send it out so now I'm stuck with a rubbish laptop thats in an awful condition

depending on how much it's worth in the forst place, I'd say tell them to send it back to you, or ask them to send you a quote from a legitimate repairs company (or look into it yourself) to see if they're telling the truth. It might be absolutely fine, and they're just trying their luck. check out their username on http://www.goofbay.com/ebay_feedback_checker_tool.html to see any past feedback that doesnt show.
I don't trust ebay at all now, it's turned into a complete scammers paradise, as has paypal

you shouldn't get a negative if you refund him, but I guess that's the other awful thing about ebay these days, buyers can leave as much negative feedback as they please, the seller can't return the favour, it annoys the heck outta me!
if he does leave negative feedback though, you can write a follow up explaining that he's an idiot, and you can also either 1, not leave feedback from him at all, or wait to see if he's left bad feedback for you, and then give him positive feedback but just write a negative comment, then write a follow up on that so it stands out more when people are looking through his feedback, that what I've done before when someone's messed me about :PDestash Challenge: 0/100

Probably not good advice.
1. Calling someone an idiot in feedback reflects more on the person leaving the comment rather than who it is aimed at.
2. Leaving a positive just adds to the buyers positive feedback - rarely does anyone read the actual comment.
3. Leaving positive feedback with a negative comment will result in the feedback being removed if the receiver complains to ebay.
Better, if a negative is left, would be to leave follow up along the lines of "Sorry you were unhappy with the item, full refund was provided""Now to trolling as a concept. ....
