Chipped belfast sink

I have an Armitage Shanks belfast sink awaiting install which i got from a store which was closing down. Took some measurements the other day and noticed a chip on the inside (quite bad) and a slice on one of the sides.
I bought a load of items so not sure whos to blame but the damage is done and i can't return it as the whole chain is now closed.
Has anybody had one repaired? As i rang one company and they want £80!!! I would rather source a second hand one than pay that.
Also i am a bit concerned that it can damage so easily and i am not using it yet. I have looked up some stuff and they say fireclay is more durable than porcelain. How can i tell if this one is fireclay???
(I have wrote to Armitage Shanks explaining to them my concerns over its durability, but they have yet to respond and i would be very surprised if they would give me another, but i emailed them anyway.)
