IFA`s. They are everywhere and should be identifiable

Look at the pensions board for example and IFAs pop up all over the place. I only know one honorable person who identifies his IFA profession in his sig
Shouldn`t people know if the `advice` given on these important boards comes with an element of bias or not

Surely if they don't display it in the sig, people shouldn't be taking professional advice from them?
Anyway, if an IFA gives advice on a product on a forum such as this... what's in it for them? They don't get commission. Where's the bias?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Exactly. More trying do someone a favour, based on limited information.
A proper consultation with a full factfind should be undertaken before making important decisions thoughI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice.0 -
I respect any IFA who puts details in the sig, koexelek. They aren`t all upfront like you, some are low grade who profess to know more than they do0

Kittie - you seem to be getting confused between mortgage advisers and IFAs. They are not the same thing.
Mortgage advisers have to follow the code of conduct spelt out by Martin and must say they are in their sig. There is no such code for IFAs as there has never been the same need.
There are 4 IFAs on this board - two say plainly in their sig and the other two have their occupation listed in their profile.
All of them make a very good contribution to this board and help a lot of people out. However it is not, as other have said, advice. It is purely suggestions and discussion.
IFAs are certainly not "everywhere" on this forum.
What exactly is the problem - other than whiteflag being more forthright than the other three?0
