Hi
Hope someone can help with this. I currently live in a council property but for various reasons am wanting to move out of the property and into privately rented accomodation. I work full time and by the time I"ve paid the bills etc there isn"t a lot of money left over to save towards a deposit. I don"t want to ask my parents for help and so was wondering if anyone knew of any schemes which might be available to help people in my situation because at the rate I"m going its going to take me forever to save a deposit and I need to move sooner rather than later. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Some councils have a rent deposit guarantee scheme - talk to your council & see what they do (not everywhere does..) e.g.
http://www.threerivers.gov.uk/Default.aspx/Web/TheRentDepositGuaranteeSchemeInformationforProspectiveLandlords
Also be aware a landlord may not be keen on such a deal. (Landlords are quite entitled to discriminate on the basis of which prospective tenant is best able to pay rent in future: One who can't get a deposit together may ring warning bells).
Cheers!

Thanks for this, I could get the money together, its just going to be a bit of a struggle whilst I"m still paying for everything in our current house and I really don"t want to borrow if I can avoid doing so. Really need to move though and I think I've possibly found a property which may be perfect for us. Need to see the LA tomorrow though and look inside it as it ticks all the boxes outwardly re location, number of bedrooms and price etc but I haven"t seen the inside of it yet. Also the LA has told me that it does need some work doing on it so wonder if I decide to take it whether or not I could say I want it but want to hold off on paying the deposit until the work has been done etc as that might give me a couple of weeks leeway which is all I need really.loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0
