I would like to thank everyone for their advice and comments. I have visited the FSA web site as recommended and found it very useful. I have decided we will not use the FA and do some talking with our present policy advisors and use the FSA tables to consider others.
Thanks again, it has been really useful

Open market options are one of the areas where its nearly always best to seek independent advice. Often it will not cost you a penny as many of the providers do not improve terms if you dont use an advisor. They just keep it for themselves.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
If you think you know what you want you could always use a discount broker. Since browsing on here I have seen https://www.clubfinance.co.uk get a good write up and also Hargreeves and lansdown.0
