Freeware Windows Explorer Replacement

I seem to be needing a file manager more and more and Windows Explorer isn't cutting it.
I need something ideally with multiple tabs (and./or panes). It needs to be not overly complicated or cluttered.
Ability to rename files in a folder using a mask I can set would be a bonus.
I know it would take 10 seconds on Google - but looking for recommendations from humans
