High quality scart leads

Options
Hi, Ive got my new 37" LCD in now and wondered if I should be purchasing high quality scart leads to maximise the picture quality. If so, where should I go to and what should I be looking for?

Don't know much on the subject but maybe worth getting composite leads which seperate audio and video signals as long as you have the connections on your TV as scart deals with both signals and seperating them maybe better.

You could have a look on the richer sounds website as they have a good selection of leads and they use to rent a selection box out to you with loads of leads so you could see what is best (dont know if they still offer that service but the required a good deposit on them)

I would go to https://www.avforums.com and look into their cabling forum. This question has been asked lots and lots of times before there.

Basically it depends what you are connecting your TV to. If it's a Sky or SKY+ box then the best scart cables will show you how poor your Sky signal really is. If it's an expensive DVD player then the chances are it will help you obtain the best picture.

I suggest a read of the forums though...

I've found the difference to be unbelievable between the standard scart and a 'proper' scart cable. I've bought a couple of ixos scart cables from Amazon for around £20 and they improve the picture no end on DVD and Sky. I would check out AV fourms for much better answers than I can give. £20 is by no means expensive for a scart and is very much a step up from the budget ones, but is a good start I think.
  • If you have more money than sense you could try these. ;)

Check in http://www.richersounds.co.uk on the Accessories page.

It certainlty is worth going up a couple of price brackets, even on budget equipment.

I think you mean COMPONENT leads - they split the signal into red, green and blue, and provide excellent quality. Composite carries all the signals in one wire and provides the worst possible connection.
    :)

Whatever you do, don't buy the 'Monster' brand of cables - they are vastly overpriced for what they are. A decent Scart cable with gold plating and individually shielded Oxygen Free Cabling (OFC) should set you back around £10.
