Hi,
I have a Sony laptop and no printer. All I want to be able to print is web pages etc in colour and black and white.
Not fussed about being able to print photo quality.
Does anyone know the best place to start, roughly how much I could/should spend, and which shops to try?
Thanks.

Are you wanting a portable printer to take with you ?, or just a printer to stay in one place ?.
If you not looking to take it around with you, just buy a normal printer. Something like an epson c46 costs around £40 and around £1 - £1.50 a cartridge.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
I would start by looking at some of the online retailers, dabs.com. ebuyer etc. Tescos sell printers in most stores and the refills.
The price of the actual printer is only one thing to note, the big one is the price of the cartridges, even refills can be very expensive.
Over the years I have had Epson, Canon,HP and Lexmark all are about the same for reliability, depends what you want to do with it. If you are flush have a look fpor a deal on a colour laser printer, the running costs are much less per page than the ink jets but they are more expensive to buy the printer and to buy the refill toners if you see what I mean? The initial costs are getting lower and are about the same as a decent inkjet a couple of years ago.
It doesn't matter that you are conecting to a laptop,(unless you are planning to carry it around in which case you need a portable inkjet printer) if it's a modern Sony laptop ( last 3 or 4 years)it will be USB connections, some come with a cable but don't pay more than a couple of pounds for one, try the pound shop if PC World want a tenner or more!0 -
Thanks. This is great it means I will see if I can get my self sorted with one tomorrow.0
