according to thanet councils lettings policy families with 2 children of the same sex are only entitled to a two bedroom property0 -
Looks like it is a two bed you need than OP.
Some council housing is actually quite big though, so if you are lucky you will be able to divide the room a bit and give your eldest dd some privacy.
That's what we did when our dds shared (there is 9 years between them) - we moved into the medium size room (just fitted our bed in there and used the airing cupboard for clothes etc), then put ds in the little room, and divided the big room up for dds.
Later on dd1 moved into the dining room and that worked even better, so that may be an option of you have one too.
I think it will be easier to arrange if you can think 'outside the box' when you get to see your new home.
Good luck with the bidding!0 -
thanks for the replies.yep, thats a great idea if it had a dining room.also me and hubby wouldnt mind the lounge having a bed setee so we could pull it out at night.

I would be wary of that option tbh, as you and your OH need some space too imo.
It's not too bad at their ages but it could be a pain when your eldest is a teen and doesn't go to bed until later, or one or both of you decide you want to have an early night.
Or a lie in for that matter!0 -
sometimes your not much better off having a third bedroom .If my house was a flat, according to my councils policy ,the third bedroom wouldn't be big enough to class as a bedroom .Becuase I have a house that very same bedroom is good enough to house 2 boys aged 5 and 15I am journeying to a debt-free life.
Our estimated debt-free date is January 2040. I'm on a mission to bring that date closer!
16/02/23 debts - £9556.38
emergency fund - £00.00

They will put same sex children under age 10 in same room. Age over 10 would have their own room.
Here is the calculator:

It will be a risk to bid on three bedroom band,if they put you into two bedroom band. Because if you win the 3 bedroom one, they might turn you down as you are not suppose to have it.
Also, if you privately rent, the max rent for HB will cover is the 2 bedroom rate.
If your council does not mind you bid on 3 bedroom, then go ahead.Spend smart, and save more.0
