How do you air your clothes with no airing cupboard?

We have just moved from a house with an airing cupboard to one with a combi boiler and a 'linen cupboard' (not heated)
how do i get my clothes aired?? i have line dried them but they just need that bit extra.. obviosuly in winter i can put them on radiators overnight just to finish them, but in the summer the rads arent on... how do other people manage.. my house is going to be like widow twanky's soon all the dining room chairs have washing hanging over them....!!

A big clothes horse with a 16 inch stand fan blowing on it works for me , the fan only uses 60 watts on full speed.

on a line over the bath and a clothes horse. we dont have radiators and it works just fine. thicker things like jeans and that just have to be washed in advance and can be finished off on the boiler but flatmate doesnt like me doing that after we had a non related condensation problem there once(which I think we due to faulty pipes anyway as we have had issues with water from flats upstairs coming in)

hmm.. thanks for the suggestions but both of them involve having clothes hanging round for days, we get through so many clothes as OH is a sweaty beast and the baby seems to need at least 2 outfits a day, my house (which isnt that big) woudl literally have clothes everywhere..

i am thinking the only solution is to get a small tumble drier just to finish them off....

If you iron them they should be OK in the linen cupboard.

If you have central heating, you could get a small radiator put in the linen cupboard, or alternatively, you could put a small electric heater in there on E7 or a timer. It only needs a couple of hours of heat to dry the air out enough for it to work as an airing cupboard.

i was thinking of getting a small dehumidifer to put in the bottom, do you think it would work? I know they wouldnt get warm, but surely the moisture would come out ok?

i just cant stand that sicky smell when they dont dry out quickly enough..

It is summer so why do you need to 'finish off' clothes? mine come off the line really dry and are folded and put away or ironed and then put away! Only towels get put inan airing cupboard and that is more for storage space than anything.

Never had an airing cupboard, once things are dry they are dry, else they stay on the airer until they are.

  • I am missing something i think....how come they're not dry when they come off the line? Leave them on till they are!

I put my stuff outdoors on the line and if it starts to rain bring it indoors and put it on one of those foldy uppy airers.

I don't have an airing cupboard either and no outside drying space or tumble dryer. Laundry goes on the clothes-horse in front of the open kitchen window and ruddy-well stays there until it's dry, winter or summer, towels too.
