OU Student - Am I entitled to the usual discounts?

Hi everyone
I'm in the process of registering with the Open University. I was just wondering if I would be officially classed as as student, and therefore be entitled to the usual student discounts e.g. in the sports centre, cinema etc, or if I wouldn't be as I am not a full time student.
Thanks

It's a few years since I was a student, but it used to be only full time students that could get discounts.0

Thanks, that's what I would have expected but someone has mentioned I would be entitled to an NUS Extra card which should get me discounts - just wondered if this was correct - being all MSE I don't like to spend more than I have to!0

Hi oompahloompah,
I was actually under the impression that providing you have an email address with .ac.uk then you can apply for an NUS Extra card as normal. I'm planning to apply for 1 when the new academic year's card is launched soon and can find nothing in the T&C to say you have to be full time to claim - only the email address stipulation0 -

I agree with this.
Once you are registered with the OU and have a PI Ref. (Personal Identifier), you can go to the NUS website and purchase (for £10) a NUS Extra card. You will need a digital image to upload or to allow them to access your webcam to take a picture and upload that way.0 -
Hi
Yes they have just launched the new card today I was on their site
http://cards.nus.org.uk/buy/default.aspx
I think it is a great deal and they are throwing in the ICIC card for £1.00.0 -
Hi just checked for you mate and yes OU students can and apparently you use your PI number, got a friend who already has one through OU.
Go get it and start saving and come back here and tell us where all the great deals are. We should run a tally of how much a student can save in a week with their card! Student Saver of the week award!0 -
Yep you can defo get a NUS Extra card, I'm with the OU and have one.
Managed to get cheap gym membership with it (total fitness £249 per year) and regularly use it at the cinema, in shops etc - and no one has ever queried whether I'm at uni full time or not - well worth the £10!0
