We are travelling to Australia via hong kong on the way out and Japan on the way back. We want to buy a digital camera and a video recorder. Is it best/cheapest to buy here or in HK or use my current stuff and but even cheaper in Japan? Does anyone know?

Hong Kong,
Hi Tech is over priced in Oz
Hong Kong - the whole island is duty free (no sales, VAT or import duties) and the currency is fixed to the US so its cheaper now than ever.
Go out to the north side shopping centres where they put prices on things.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING IN TST (dodgy shops for tourists) as they bait and switch.
Check prices online in the UK before you go and buy.
