Natwest Backdated Charges

Hi,

I have been with natwest for several years and have successfully reclaimed charges from them before the claims were stayed. Anyway I solely use online banking and have no paper sent to my address anymore as every morning I log in to online banking and view our balance and check any Direct Debits etc. I never really look at the statement section only if I need to look back on things as on the main summary page it shows balance and last six transactions. I have noticed though strange things happening in regards to charges on the account.

Firstly they now put advance warning of charges in a section of the online system which you have to go through three page clicks to get at. Also on the day the charges come out they never, ever appear on the summary page this is because a week or so later my balance drops one morning I look back at the statement and hey presto charges appear and when you look at transactions after this like I did this morning it has pushed some SOLO payments over my overdraft thus incurring more charges. SOLO payment cannot go through if you do not have the funds in but as I check the account every day when i look back at my statement things dont tally. So now at the end of this month I have £70 of charges for two solo payments, a maintainance charge of £28 and a subscription of £12.95. I am wondering what advantage I get from this account.

I feel i am being mislead and ripped off so now I am going to save screen shots everyday to my computer to log this.

Anyone else seen this sort of activity and sorry for the long post!!!

Regards

Mark

  • If you don't use it then cancel the Advantage Gold Account. NatWest terms and conditions changed with regards to when the charges go out. They now go out 21 days after the statement date(a mailshot went out in January 2009 with regards to it and you can read it online at the top of the page that has your accounts).
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
