Query re Virgin Media land line vs BT

Currently I have my landline with BT - approx £25 a month on BT together.

I have broadband with Virgin Media - £30 a month.

I'm thinking of stopping BT and moving to Virgin Media for both landline and Broadband - £31 a month (phone - M package).

From other people's experience - is this a good move? Financially it seems worth it.

Taking off the line rental your paying BT approx £12 for calls and possibly features. How is this broken down? What call package are you on?

The VM Phone M Package only includes inclusive weekend calls. Their chargeable calls are expensive.

And remember that once your BT line is disconnected, you may have to pay £120 for reconnection should you want to leave VM in the future. Without putting the ADSL line back in you will have nowhere else to go.
The most expensive BT phone package is Unlimited Anytime @ £4.95 which I presume you are on? Add line rental at £11.25 making £16.20. You must be making quite a few exclusive calls (premium nos or mobile nos) to make that up to £25 per month.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

£5.95 a month if your not on a rolling contract.;)
  • Does anyone know if it is possible to add an 'Overide Provider' on a Virgin Media Home Phone without them adding a large charge to make it pointless?

Only getting free calls at the weekend, BB + Home phone £25/mth. If I want free Evening calls in the week Virgin want another £3.50/mth.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks in advance.

You can use http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php for your peak/evening/ngn calls etc via their 0808 freephone access number which Virgin M dont charge to call. (I see you have already been told about them).

    Their is also: http://www.firsttelecom.com/residential/residential-paymonthly-CS.htm

Plus www.phone.coop will supply an autodialer with 0800 access, they will on their home user tariiff charge cable customers just 4.7p for up to 60 minutes. An added bonus is that they operate second billing, with no connection charge just a min call charge.
