Natwest OVerdraft Charge

I have been charged £28 by Natwest for going £2.60 (due to the interest Natwest charged on my overdraft) over my agreed limit last month. I have spoken to two seperate staff members at natwest this morning who say that as it is not a natwest error the charge cannot be refunded.
Has anyone else been through this? This is the first time since a opened my account last August that I have gone over my agreed limit.

If it is a first charge then keep ringing until you get someone sympathetic, might be worth asking them to refund as it is the first time it went overdrawn and was an oversight on your part0 -
I've tried 3 times already today and spoke to different people at Natwest but get the same line 'if it is not the bank's error then there is nothing they can do'. Absolutely pathetic. They told me to write to the complaints department.
Just hope the High Court ruling on bank charges goes against them.0 -

Which isn't the end of the OFT test case.0 -
I experienced the same problem with Alliance & Leicester in 2003, (standard interest charges applied to my account by A&L took me over my OD limit). Like your bank they were unhelpful and refused to refund the additional charges (two amount of £35 and £20!). In the end I wrote a letter of complaint to the chairman of the corporation (which they have to deal with more quickly) enclosing a further copy of a letter of complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. After this they wrote to me apologising and refunding the original charges. Maybe escalating your complaint will work for you too, good luck.0
